Have you ever wondered what it feels like to play a church organ? If you are interested in hearing, playing or learning about our Victorian pipe organ, please drop in to the church any time between 10am and 12.30pm, when St Nicolas Organist, Peter Stutfield, will be happy to show you how a traditional pipe organ works and even give you a chance to try it for yourself!

Bring some keyboard music if you like, but you don’t have to be able to read music to enjoy trying out the organ. All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. St Nicolas Church in Forest Hill, with the support of the Shotover Trust, is delighted to be organising another ‘Daffodil Day’ on Sunday 22 March. Proceeds are shared equally between the church and The Maple Tree Children’s Centre in Wheatley.

The event offers a rare opportunity to wander around the Shotover gardens and enjoy the extensive displays of daffodils and other spring bulbs. Tea, coffee and home made cake (including gluten free and vegan options) will be on sale throughout the afternoon and there will be an accessible refreshment tent at the front of the house. Toilets (including a disabled toilet) will be provided.

As in previous years, free off-site car parking will be available at local schools and the routes for walking or cycling will be clearly signposted. Advance booking is strongly recommended, particularly if you are hoping to park on site. Priority will be given to ‘Blue Badge’ holders and drivers with limited mobility.

An evening of music and readings, reflecting on the various ways in which war displaces so many people from their homes. The concert will last for about an hour and there will be a collection in aid of war-related charities.
