CONCERT TICKET for 'Saint Nicolas 750: a Celebration in Words and Music’, Saturday 23 September 2023 at 5.30pm

Our September concert will include a celebratory performance of the first part of Benjamin Britten’s ‘St Nicolas’ with tenor Jack Harberd singing the part of Nicolas. Singers from the St Nicolas Choir and Consort will be joined by pianists Alexandra Hewitt and Roger Simmonds and organist Peter Stutfield. The music includes a humorous song about the birth and childhood of Nicolas, some moving soliloquies by Nicolas himself, and a brilliantly evocative depiction of a tumultuous storm at sea and its aftermath. The final movement celebrates the consecration of Nicolas as Bishop of Myra and ends with a stirring arrangement of the well-known hymn ‘All people that on earth do dwell’, with full audience participation!

The concert will last for approximately 1 hour with drinks in the garden afterwards. Contact us if you need more information before buying a ticket.

Ticket price £10 including a printed programme and a glass of wine or soft drink (children under 16 admitted free)
